Overview
Designed backwards from 6am
The clients are a nurse and a baker — two people who sleep at opposite hours in a room facing a bright street. The brief was blunt: darkness on demand, silence always, and nowhere to see laundry.
We stole 60cm from an oversized hallway to build a full wall of silent-close wardrobes, layered blackout blinds behind sheer linen curtains, and finished everything in chalky whites that stay soft under any light.
Approach
A hotel room that knows you
Hotels sleep well because every switch is reachable from the pillow. We wired both bedside lamps, the blackout layer and the ensuite heat to a single panel by the bed — plus a second by the door for the partner coming home late.
The adjacent bath got the same palette: white tile, a deep tub, and a blackened-brass tap set that echoes the bedroom’s quiet hardware.
