A studio built around quiet rooms
Sagewick began in 2011 with two designers, one borrowed workshop and a belief that still holds: the best rooms are the ones you stop noticing — because everything simply works.
Our story
From a two-desk office to 120+ finished spaces
Our first commission was a single galley kitchen on the Lower East Side. The clients told three friends, those friends told their buildings, and the studio grew the slow, honest way — one referral at a time.
Today we are fourteen people: interior designers, a licensed architect, lighting and joinery specialists, and a styling team that stays until the last shelf is dressed. We take on a dozen projects a year so every one gets a partner’s attention from first sketch to final walkthrough.
What we believe
Three rules behind every Sagewick room
01
Plan before you decorate
A beautiful room that fights your routine is a failed room. We start with how you move, store, cook, rest and gather — then draw the shell around real life.
02
Materials that age gracefully
Oak, stone, wool, brass, lime plaster. We specify surfaces that look better in year ten than day one — and tell you plainly what each one asks of you.
03
Light does half the work
Daylight first, then layers: task, ambient, accent. Most ‘tired’ rooms we meet don’t need new furniture — they need a lighting plan.
120+ projects
all over the world
Homes, workplaces, cafés and boutiques — mostly in New York, with projects in four countries.
Nine out of ten clients arrive by referral. Our average project runs fourteen weeks on site, and our snag lists average eleven items — most of them paint touch-ups.
